-THE YELLOW MELODIES surgen en Murcia (España) a finales de la década de los 90. Desde entonces, el grupo ha editado 8 álbumes, varios singles y EPs en distintos sellos (The Beautiful Music, Clifford, Cloudberry, Bubbletone, Edition 59, Jabalina, Discos Imprescindibles,…), y sus canciones han sido incluídas en multitud de recopilatorios de distintos sellos de todo el planeta.
-THE YELLOW MELODIES lo forman: Rafa Skam (voz y guitarra); Antonio (bajo y coros), Carlos (teclados, guitarras y coros) y José Ángel (batería).
-Han tocado en directo acompañando a grupos de la talla de EMMA POLLOCK (ex-THE DELGADOS), THE LADYBUG TRANSISTOR o THE PRIMARY 5 (ex-TEENAGE FANCLUB), y han formado parte del cartel de festivales españoles como Contempopránea, Lemon Pop, Sos 4.8, Sonorama, Easy Pop Weekend, Sonorama, Microsonidos, etc… e incluso internacionales como Indietracks, Wales Goes Pop o el International Pop Overthrow de Liverpool, tocando en la mítica sala The Cavern. Han actuado en diversos programas de televisión, como Los Conciertos de Radio 3 / La 2 de TVE. Han vendido discos por todo el mundo, desde Japón hasta USA pasando por Europa.
-Tienen grabados un montón de vídeoclips con diferentes realizadores de aquí y de fuera, llegando el de «Mr Sand and Mrs Sea» (dirigido por Faustino Fdez.) a ser galardonado con el Premio al «Mejor Vídeo-Clip» dentro de los premios POP-EYE de la música independiente. Sus vídeoclips se han emitido incluso por la televisión británica.
-Durante 2013 publican una exquisita trilogía de álbumes de versiones, llamada «Fans»: 3 LPs publicados exclusivamente en ediciones limitadas de vinilo de color, que han cosechando excelentes críticas en todos los medios. De su tercer álbum ‘New Identities» se llegaron a publicar singles de todas las canciones, con curiosas caras B, rarezas, etc… que serían recopiladas en 2014 por el sello americano Jigsaw Records, en un álbum titulado «Alternate Identities».
THE YELLOW MELODIES regresan a la actualidad discográfica con ‘Life’, su octavo álbum, que contiene nueve flamantes temas propios que enriquecen el universo musical de esta excelente formación murciana, alcanzando su mejor momento gracias al minucioso y pasional trabajo compositivo e interpretativo realizado en los últimos tiempos. -THE YELLOW MELODIES are an indiepop band from Murcia (España). They started making music at the end of the 90s. They have released 8 albums, several singles and EPs on different labels (The Beautiful Music, Cloudberry, Bubbletone, Edition 59, Clifford, Jabalina, Discos Imprescindibles,…) and their songs have been included in many compilations all around the world.
-THE YELLOW MELODIES are: Rafa Skam (voice and guitar); Antonio Clares (bass and backing vocals); Carlos Abrisqueta (keyboards, guitar and backing vocals) and José Ángel (drums).
-They have played live a lot, supporting bands such as EMMA POLLOCK (ex-THE DELGADOS), THE LADYBUG TRANSISTOR or THE PRIMARY 5 (ex-TEENAGE FANCLUB), and they have also played Spanish festivals such as Contempopranea, Lemon Pop, Sos 4.8, Sonorama, Easy Pop Weekend, Microsonidos, Sonorama, etc… and European festivals such as Indietracks, Wales Goes Pop, and the International Pop Overthrow in Liverpool. -They have some videoclips out; one of them, «Mr Sand and Mrs Sea» (directed by Faustino Fdez.) was awarded as the «Best Video-clip» in the Spanish Pop-Eye Awards of the independent music.
-Along 2013 they released a trilogy of cover albums, called «Fans»: 3 LPs released exclusively in colour vinyl limited editions. Twelve singles were taken out from their third album, ‘New Identities’, with rarities and excellent b-sides, that would later be collected in a compilation CD in 2014 by the Seattle indiepop label Jigsaw Records.
-THE YELLOW MELODIES come back to the music scene at the end of 2017, with the release of ‘Life’, their 8th album , that features brand new own songs that enrich their musical universe. Duglas T. Stewart (BMX Bandits), once described them as a band who had “a love of POP with capital letters, with an extraordinary musical sensitivity, an authentic and charming type”.
They are a band who truly love POP, regardless of its shape or form, whether it’s indie pop, psych pop, orchestral pop, power pop, mod or beat, its first and foremost pure POP! They play music from the heart, with true passion and with style and flair.
