8-3-02 Moloko
(Murcia), with Davis, The Runarounds, Fenómenos
Extraños and Second
A new venue opened their doors in Murcia, and they counted on us. It was crowded, but we only played 20 minutes, as we played with 4 more bands. I enjoyed most Second and Runarounds.
| 15-6-02 BARBACOA SON Festival (Zarandona - Murcia), with Vacaciones, The Kiki´s Machines and Dick Watson Project | ![]() |
It was the first festival of this year, a festival organised by us in our rehearsal room, and we invited our friends and we cooked some great food, and we enjoyed a sunny day in Murcia! I played with my two bands. Firstly I played with the Yellow Melodies, only 3 songs. Vacaciones, my other band, would be the headliners of this festival. Angel Pop did not came, so as Ismael came to the party, he sat on the drums and played with us.
We didn´t expect festivals this year, but only 1 week before this festival, we were called to play, as Polar didn´t play, and we said yes!!! as usual! We only had one rehearsal, and there was a tribute to the Smiths in this festival that consisted in all the bands had to play one Smiths song. We were very proud of it, as the most of the Yellow Melodies are very keen on The Smiths. We chose "Shoplifters of the world unite", that was also performed by La Habitación Roja. We only played 20 minutes, so we only played the songs from our last album "Surprise", plus the Smiths cover. The rest of the group arrived Alburquerque some minutes before, after a 8 hours trip by car.
5-8-02 Villanueva de Gállego (Zaragoza) This was one of the oddest gigs we have ever played. We had not slept the night before, as we came back from Benicassim festival, and maybe we abused on everything during the days of the festivals, and we had a 5-hour trip by van on Monday. We arrived late. The town was very strange. It was empty, although there was the holiday bank in the town. We made the sound-check, and then we started. Very few people, only our frineds from the C Is The Heavenly Option fanzine. They said the sound was good, but I don´t know if I must believe them.
15-11-02 Subterfugio (Valladolid), with Happening
It was the first time we played in Valladolid, invited by our friends Rosalia and Roberto. I had been as a tour manager the day before, driving a van with Camera Obscura for 18 hours!!! We arrived very late to the venue, and soundcheck was really awful. The sound engineer too. And the weather between Madrid and Valladolid too... too much snow in the road. The sound wa so badly that we wished we could end the show before we started. The band supporting us came from there, so they brought a lot of their friends and the gig was a little bit more friendly, despite the fucking sound. The voice of Laura did not sound, because the sound engineer had not connected it!! It was incredible... almost a nightmare! After the gig, a strange guy came with all our records so that we could sign them... he even brought some vinyls... and we have never released a vinyl... it was from a band called Yellowstone!
16-11-02 Intromusica party in Siroco (Madrid), with Zipper We came back from Valladolid, and we made a radio show at Julio Ruiz´ Disco Grande. We played an acoustic and improvised set of 2 songs live on the radio: Someone Special and Believe. After it, we took a pair of pizzas and went fastly to the soundcheck. It was a fast and effective souncheck, it was the opposite side of the previous day. When we came back from the hotel, Zipper were beginning their show. So we went on the stage, and we made our best gig with the new line-up. We enjoyed a lot, and made people enjoy... at least, we tried! I had drunk the enough cups, not more!
29-11-02 La Competenssia (Albacete)
This was our last gig of the year, and the last one for Angel and Laura. Laura decided to leave the band by the end of the year. We also found a new drummer, so we didn´t call Angel Pop again. It was a funny gig, where the most important thing was having a good time, for us and for the rest of the people.
